Corporate Meetings & Events

Whether you operate on a fiscal year calendar or a traditional calendar year, fall is the time for annual planning.  We are seeing an increase in our corporate business inquiries as organizations plan their events for 2020. I thought it would be valuable to share answers to some of our most frequently asked questions pertaining to meetings and events here at the Inn at Willow Grove.

1. How walkable is your property?  Given that our property has nearly forty acres, this question is valid but fortunately not one for concern. Our historic 1778 manor house is the central hub of the Inn at Willow Grove, and where Guest Services is located.  Vintage [restaurant] is located downstairs in the manor house. The Hall, which is our most popular corporate meeting room, is adjacent to the manor house (you can actually access it without even going outside). The eleven free-standing cottages are steps away from the back door of the manor house, and our ten creekside rooms are about a football field away, located next to Mill House Spa.  The property has wide aggregate trails making it all very walkable and accessible. We can transport guests with mobility issues via golf carts upon request. 
2. Can your culinary team customize menus?  Absolutely!  In fact, it is what they do best!  We do have a corporate banquet menu that we distribute to groups so that they have a starting place, but our culinary team can certainly accommodate special requests and dietary restrictions.
3. Where can I host my meeting?  The Hall is our most popular space for meetings and events.  It accommodates up to 52 persons. The most requested seating configurations are U-shaped, boardroom, and classroom style.  The Hall has a private bathroom for our clients as well as a screen, projector, and private wifi. Larger groups can use The Barn and Ruins, which accommodate approximately 200 guests.  Those spaces also have private restrooms and audio visual capabilities as well as a full catering kitchen.
4. Do you have breakout space?  Yes, of course!  Our groups can host their meals in the dining room of Vintage or the Chef’s Tables, our private event dining space for parties of up to eighteen.  If the weather cooperates, we suggest hosting a cocktail hour outside on the slate patio near The Hall. The Salon and The Library, located near Guest Services, are perfect for small breakout sessions as well.
5. What types of team building activities do you suggest?  Being that we are located in the heart of Central Virginia’s wine country, we always suggest a wine tour for those wishing to venture off-site.  Barboursville and Early Mountain Vineyards are two of our favorite locales within fifteen minutes. The Virginia Foothills are also rich with history and we suggest a visit to the home of the fourth president, James Madison’s Montpelier, which is about fifteen minutes from our door.  For more adventurous guests, Skydive Orange is a short five minute drive and Shenandoah National Park is about thirty minutes away. We can also schedule horseback riding excursions, golf trips at nearby Meadow Farms, and fly fishing trips with Albemarle Angler. Blue Ridge Ballooning can land a hot air balloon on our property and tether rides for groups.  For those wanting to stay on-site, we can book spa treatments at our own full-service spa, Mill House Spa. We also have a licensed yoga instructor on staff and can treat your group to a private session.
