Our 40-acre property features lush and beautiful country gardens set against the backdrop of the rolling Blue Ridge foothills and picturesque farmland. With meandering walking paths, quiet sitting areas for enjoying the sights and sounds of the country, water features, a lily pond and some incredibly special specimens of historic trees that date back to the days of Lafayette’s campaign in Orange County, the gardens at The Inn at Willow Grove are beautiful and serene.

Virginia wine is growing in prominence and we are at its epicenter. With world-class vineyards such as Barboursville, Early Mountain and DuCard Vineyards right in our backyard and over 35 other vineyards, microbreweries and cider works along the Monticello Wine Trail  and Brew Ridge Trail within a 30-minute drive of the inn, Orange is at the center of the Virginia Wine movement.

Mill House Spa & Pool

Featuring a wide range of massage services and body treatments, three tranquil treatment rooms, a relaxation room, and a private couple’s suite. Spa guests will also enjoy a heated saltwater pool. The Mill House Spa is available for guests to relax and unwind.
 Ideally, we ask for at least twenty four hours advance notice for scheduling spa services.

Historic Sites

Historic James Madison's Montpelier, home to James and Dolley Madison, is a quick ten minute drive from The Inn and well worth the visit! The beautiful, 2,000-acre property is home to the historic mansion and adjoining historic slave quarters, an active archeological dig site, a wonderful Visitor’s Center with information from the Center for the Constitution, the site of the Annual Montpelier Hunt Races (one of the largest steeplechase races in America) and a thoroughbred horse retirement facility.


The Exchange Hotel Civil War Medical Museum contains exhibitions on the history of Gordonsville as a railroad town, the elegance of the Exchange Hotel and its transformation and remarkable history as the Gordonsville Receiving Hospital with its medical and Civil War artifacts on through to the end of the war when it became a Freedmen's Bureau. 
The James Madison Museum of Orange County Enjoy the large collection of agricultural implements and 1732 cube house - testaments to the agrarian history of Orange. Their Black History Room conveys the intertwined history of Black Americans from the American Revolution onward through Post-Emancipation. The Madison Room displays numerous possessions of the Madison family and Taylor along with a few from Washington, Jefferson and Monroe.  The Temporary Exhibit Room changes every few months. Monticello a short drive to Charlottesville, tour the home of Thomas Jefferson, the third President of The United States and author of The Declaration of Independence.

Adventures

The foothills are our playground! Get out and enjoy Central Virginia’s beautiful countryside with any number of outdoor activities that we can arrange just for you!
 We can help you plan everything from hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, skeet shooting, and horseback riding all within a scenic short drive from The Inn. 
 
Fly high on a hot air balloon tour with Blue Ridge Ballooning or go skydiving with Skydive Orange. 
Take a scenic drive or hike through the Shenandoah National Park or go berry picking  at Liberty Mills Farm or The Market at Grelen.  
 
While at The Market at Grelen, be sure to grab a bite or to eat or sip local wine at its café. Pick up a gift at the Market Shop and take a stroll through one of the many walking and hiking trails!​​

Golf

Meadows Farms Golf Course offers players twenty seven holes of pristine Virginia golf. Come play the longest hole in the U.S.A. and one of only 50 island holes in the world! Stay and savor delicious lunch specials and enjoy a truly unique golfing experience that only Meadows Farms can provide.

With numerous streams and rivers nearby, fishing opportunities are endless. We would be happy to set up a fly fishing trip for you. Just ask!
